Apple La La’s

Is there anything more fun than a tasting station?  My kids think I’m the coolest mom on Earth when I set one up! It’s deceptively easy.  Cut up apples, pour some toppings in little cups and serve.  Nothing to it – but the presentation is so wow!

My youngest calls these “apple la la’s.”  (Apple lollies.)

There is something to be said about choices. We all have preferences. We all have favorites. Children love to make choices too. It helps them develop their planning skills and their decision making abilities.

I set the parameters – offering items that meet my standards for nutritious treats.  (Yours might be different from mine.) That way there are no choices the kids can make that will be met with disapproval from mom.  We all love that!

So pick your apples… Honey Crisps, Granny Smiths, Galas, Pink Ladies, all your favorites!  Pick your toppings! And… go!

Everyone loves apples (and they are so good for you). I served these at a block party recently and every single kid descended on the table to make and devour apple la la’s!

Here’s a list of suggested toppings:
Maple Syrup
Honey
Coconut Nectar
Nut Butters
Almonds
Other Nuts
Coconut Shavings
Sprinkles
Carob Chips
Chocolate Chips
Granola
Cookie Crumbs

Dip them in a sticky topping first and your favorite dry topping next.  Yum!
