The African Horned Melon

Today’s Mystery Fruit Tasting: The African Horned Melon or Kiwano Melon.

It tastes like a cross between a cucumber and a very mild kiwi. Barely sweet. More refreshing. The girls described the flesh as slimy. I thought of it more as soft and silky, like pudding or an oyster. They both claimed to hate it but then wanted bite after bite. (The seeds are edible.) I liked it, but had enough after I’d eaten half. Don’t think I’d buy it again.
