My daughter loves making crafts she can eat. I am sure there are kids who would never want to destroy their creations by chomping on them… mine is not one of them. She makes it. She eats it. She makes another. And so on.
This child has really developed an eye for food she can turn into craft projects. ”Mommy, these would be perfect for making necklaces,” she said on a recent trip to the market. Her snack drawer is teeming with things like pretzels and dried fruit that she can easily string.
She knows if it does not have too much sugar or is even semi-healthy, I will probably let her add it to her collection. I do like to support her artisan spirit.
And childhood is fleeting. These days of wanting to wear her food will not remain.
